The public download area on handhelds.org contains of source and binary software packages, snapshots and releases of Linux distributions, and various other resources. It is accessible through any of the following equivalent URLs:

• ftp://ftp.handhelds.org
• rsync://rsync.handhelds.org

The rsync:// protocol requires a non-empty module name after the host name, so as a special case, rsync://rsync.handhelds.org/. refers to the entire download area.

By convention, if a project in cvs.handhelds.org has files in the public download area, its files are in a top-level subdirectory with the same name as the project. Additionally, if a project has virtual domain name project-name.handhelds.org, then its downloadable files are also available at http://project-name.handhelds.org/download.

For example, downloads for the Familiar project are available from any of the following locations:

We welcome mirrors of the public download areas on handhelds.org.

rsync is the preferred handhelds.org mirroring mechanism. It's available from http://rsync.samba.org.

The entire download area is currently . It has rsync module name ".", so it can be mirrored using a command like this:

  rsync -av --delete --ignore-errors --partial rsync://handhelds.org/. .

Additionally, each top-level subdirectory of the download area has an rsync module with the same name as the subdirectory, so if for example you want to mirror just the Familiar Linux download area, you can use a command like this:

  rsync -av --delete --ignore-errors --partial rsync://handhelds.org/familiar .
