Hi!
I tried to install Java on my ipaq under Linux (running
familiar 0.7.2) and as long as I do not want to execute AWT/Swing
programs it works.
I did install the Java version from blackdown, so, I installed
j2re-1.3.1-RC1-linux-arm.tar.bz2 (which seems to correspond to
the java1.3-base ipkg that one can find with ipkgfind) and
additional-ipaq-stuff.tar.gz (which sees to correspond to
the java1.3-libs ipkg). I also made the adaptations describted
on this site:
http://www.handhelds.org/z/wiki/BlackDownJavaOnFam07
However, when I try to execute a program with a graphical user
interface, Java complains that it cannot find the shared library
libSM.so.6. In fact, this file does not exist on my system and does
not appear in one of the dependencies of the previously mentioned
packages. But, with ipkg-find I also found a package called java1.3.ipk
that contains this file.
My question is therefore whether the packages java1.3-base and
java1.3-libs are useless. Does anyone of you know what additional
packages I need to install in order to successfully run Java
programs with a graphical user interface?
Does Java work with familiar 0.7.2? Is there anyone out there who
successfully installed Java with this linux version? And - which
packages did you use (java1.3, java1.3-base, java1.3-libs ...)?
Thank you for any help on this.
Kind regards,
Frank
