Hello,
I am new to this (Familiar and Linux in general), so please bear with me.
I have installed Familiar / GPE 8.2 on my IPAQ 3900. But I am having trouble
installing other packages.
First, I wanted to get my WLan PCMCIA card working so IPKG could get updates
from the web. So, I found the package I need on the IPKGs list, downloaded
it to my CF card, put the CF card in the PDA, and installed the package. Now
the package shows up on the installed packages list, but when I go to the
PC/CF cards application, The new driver does not show up on the list for me
to assign it to the card.
Second, I decided to try to connect the IPAQ to the internet through my USB
cable and Windows PC. I found a procedure that told me to delete the old USB
package, install two new packages and add/delete two or three other small
files. procedure here;
http://handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/WindowsXpUsbNetworkHowTo
I followed this to the letter and now there is no "USB" tab to work with on
the network setup screen. It appears, again, that the package installation
may not have worked properly.
Anybody have an idea what I should do next?
I do not have a cradle / serial connection for the IPAQ. The only method I
have to install packages right now is by putting them on the CF card and
putting that in the IPAQ.
