there's a dual boot howto on the wiki but it uses CF since the
bootloader doesn't support SD yet (and probably won't ever) on teh
39xx.

 the big drawback is that CE uses the RAM as flash but linux uses it
as ram, so when you boot linux it's like doing a hard reset on CE and
you loose all installed apps and data and will have to restore it
before being able to do anything.
