Bad news (at least to me)
I had the same problem. I have a 3950 and installed familiar on it. The
first time I got battery empty I was far from any power source and could not
recharge it. When I got home I recharged the IPAQ but it was not working
anymore.
Now I connect to USB cord, boot the IPAQ and can work with that but once I
disconnect it dies.
The battery is not recharging anymore. All those things in wiki didn't help.
I can even put it to learn voltage again but it doesn't charge.
With windows on it I've let ipaq discharged for several weeks without any
problem.
I'm buying a new battery and (unfortunatelly) restored windows because I
didn't see any solution or clue about how to solve it.
I can't have a wired PDA.
BTW: to force it to learn I did "echo 5000 >
/proc/sys/asic/battery/learn_voltage" (If it's not the file name it's
something like that)
