java on familiar

I need to do some java development on an ipaq (actually to port a small
existing java application to the ipaq). I've heard that blackdown has been
ported to linux on the ipaq, and that there are a couple of commercial j2me
solutions.

What's the simplest way to get java on the ipaq? Note that some kind of gui
is absolutely necessary in my case. Does that mean I will need GPE instead
of Opie, since Opie doesn't have an x server, so AWT on blackdown presumably
won't work? Does that mean I need to stick with some kind of j2me solution?
What are the gui API's for j2me?

Also, currently all my stuff is just in eclipse with java 1.4. Will I need
any special development environment, libraries? Is java 1.4 or 1.5available?

If I can get the full java suite running, not j2me, with AWT on the ipaq,
that would be fine for me even if it were a bit bloated. This ipaq will be
only running the application I'm talking about.

thanks
Brendan
