so? how often will you be using more than one app at the same time (not
sequentially, jumping from one to the other, but really within the
lifetime of the lock) on a PDA device?

I very strongly suggest that we agree on a database backend. there are
tons of advantages and opportunities for a common storage mechanism. I
really thing the DB is to the data what the filesystem is to the
programs.
