In short: GREAT!
Exactly what was missing and I really wonder why you did not post that
earlier ;)
I just toyed around with it and am absolutely amazed!
The best choice we currently have and the best starting point, IMHO.
So, the very obvious question:
Would you be willing to take the application manager sub-project?
That is to coordinate efforts and to further help with the development and
integration into what will once become GPE?
This would be really great!

Could you possibly redesign it to use tabs instead of the pull-down menu
for choosing the category? Maybe this way this "bug" goes away by itself
;) And besides this I think that tabs are easier to navigate through than
this pull-down list.

Another thing that I noticed is that even in categories where just a few
programs are listed the vertical scrollbar is still visible and even
indicates a longer (empty) list. But that's just cosmetics ;)

Anyway, great work, many many thanks!
