What about the tab-style view?
Personally I like this one best and think that hirarchies do not make much
sense on a PDA. The number of applications is very limited and given that
one can have as many tabs as one likes it should be sufficient.

Sure, that's caused by the battery monitor ;)
Given that Robert is willing to contribute fmenu as application launcher
to GPE and that Matthew contributes his window manager with a battery dock
application then it is not needed naymore in the launcher ;)
