not immediatly, no. my user-interface-design days have been a few years
ago. but try putting stuff like "rules of user interface design" or
"human computer interface" into a search engine. you'll find a lot about
generic stuff such as feedback, consistency and, yes, visibility.

then you don't know enough non-computer literate people. I know a few
of the often-cited "moms" and they DO have trouble with double-
clicking.

aside from that, double-clicking has become very much of a standard.
once something is standardized, it tends to work reasonably well no
matter what its actual merits are.
tap-hold is far from being a standard. you can NOT expect a random
person to have ever heard of it.
