Hmm ... my version currently mostly works ;) At least it does not crash
though the playlist handling is as we know not what we wish. But at least
it works ;)

Which will not be part of GPE however.

"Soon" refers to time and this is what I currently don't have :((
But anyway I'll try to pull things together again today and the following
days and we should aim for a first public release the following week.

Will be there.
The reason why we did not do so yet is that the packages are not yet
ready. We are all working hard on it but IMHO it was not ready for users.
We kept on pushing sources around during the last weeks and were testing
on our iPaqs with systems that were put together by hand.
What still needs to be done is creating a task-gpe and test this before we
can release a first version. Else we might run into a lot of trouble and
would face a whole bunch of users asking questions, sorry ;)
The first release should be as stable as possible.

Maybe do it this way:
Please be a little more patient during the following week. We'll put all
the pieces together and after the first release you are absolutely welcome
to help improve it! Users, testers and documenters are as well welcome as
developers. The PIM problem is urgent for example...

There is no intention to hold back source or information. It's just for
now to avoid too many questions.
