Yeah, I thought about that myself. The trouble is, postinst requires a
working network. If this is a new installation, there is a good chance
the network will be set up wrong, and running postinst interactively is
the only way people are going to find that out. However, it might be
worth having the startup detect that postinst hasn't yet been run, and
pop up a banner directing people to the appropriate section of the
installation instructions.

Or, as an alternative, we should ship some (maybe just one) of the free
TTF fonts in the bootstrap image. They would look poor compared to the
MS ones, but at least xkbd would run and allow the user to log in.
