Thanks for the clear answer. What I wanted to know was whether
my overall understanding was right, or I missed some major piece
of magic. From your message, it's clear that the answer is "just
resolve the individual problems".

Depends: libc6, libgdk-pixbuf2, libglib1.2, libgtk1.2, xlibs

Same for loader-xpm. I'll look at the .so inside the package to
see if it really references symbols that are only found in gtk1.
