From what I know GTK2 is about three times bigger than GTK1.2 in terms
of filesizes. Some people mentioned that it compresses quite well using
jffs2 so that you do not waste three time the space in flash for it. But
still it is _currently_ a lot bigger than GTK1.2.
But there is help on its way ;)
First X is becoming smaller by the minute, thanks to Jim Gettys and
other X folks.
Then second there is a lot of flexibility still in GTK2 itself. It
contains several widgets and even widget trees that will never be used
on an iPaq. Along with some legacy support GTK2 contains quite a bit of
code that could be left out and thus making it a little smaller. But
this requires some work.

Err ... not yet ;)
I normally use the /skiff setup and will try to build a skiff-ied of
GTK2 and all it needs soon; but don't know exactly when yet.
