I just added .desktop support to appmgr thanks to 'libdotdesktop' (in
CVS).
But:
* libdotdesktop is licence and authourless!
* There doesn't seem to be a clear mapping of section names like in
.menu files
* libdotdesktop crashes on my Anjuta2.desktop file ;)
* libdotdesktop doesn't "make" nicely ;)
#1 is easily solved.
#3 I can send to the author
#4 is a minor patch I'll commit if the author likes (it just needs
glib2.0 and hash.o linked in)
#2:
This is what we have so far:
gpe-calendar: Application;PIM;GPE
gpe-contacts: Application;PIM;GPE
gpe-edit: Application;Utility;GPE
gpe-filemanager: Application;Utility;GPE
gpe-minicalc: Panel;Utility;GPE
gpe-nmf: Application;Utility;AudioVideo;GPE
gpe-sketchbook: Application;PIM;GPE
gpe-soundbite-play: Application;Utility;AudioVideo;GPE
gpe-soundbite-record: Application;Utility;AudioVideo;GPE
gpe-todo: Application;PIM;GPE
gpe-what: Panel;Utility;GPE
gpe-bluetooth: Panel;Utility;GPE;Bluetooth
gpe-gallery: Application;Utility;GPE
gpe-calculator: Application;GPE
gpe-irc: Application;IRC;GPE
minilite: Panel;Utility
minitheme: Panel;Utility;GPE
OK well PIM and Utility are OK... is it safe to just get the first group
after the first ';'? What is going to be best and integrate nicest with
appmgr's existing .menu files? (ATM it supports both - and will do for
some time).
What's gonna happen to apps not in 'policy' categories, will they be
moved? (ie IRC and AudioVideo).
For the time-being there is a ".desktop" group :-)
Thanks all
