It shouldn't cause any problems, so long as said apps don't get spooked
out by button 3 clicks that they weren't expecting.

This stuff is still somewhat experimental, though. I certainly wouldn't
advise anybody to go ripping out their code to handle tap-and-hold in
individual applications. But, for example, you can now cut and paste in
GtkTextView widgets, which seems like an improvement.
