Speaking for myself, when running a laptop (1024x768) or desktop (1280x1024 or
more) I want to also run an all-singing-all-dancing desktop environment such
as KDE 3.1. This requires significantly more RAM and storage than is
possible on an iPaQ at the moment.
Maybe in a few years hardware development will have progressed far enough that
running KDE 3.1 on an iPaQ type device is possible. But at the moment I am
not able to have an iPaQ as my only machine.
It will be handy to use X for testing iPaQ programs, but not for regular use
of such programs. So I think that at the moment X is overkill, and it is of
limited utility.
