That sounds like a problem with your applications and/or the version of X
and/or your VM. We can't always pin our ills on X. :-)
My X workstation here has been up nearly 200 days and has yet to swap.
(XFree86 4.2.0, x86, FreeBSD 5.)
X is a very efficient and competent display and windowing solution; if we're
going to promote an alternative on the iPaq (which I am) it will have to be
on the merits of the alternative, not the weaknesses of X.
Incidentally, I notice this thread is crossposting quite a bit; should we
perhaps restrict it to a single list?
