Contributing should be easy - anyone who wants to help is welcome. At the
moment there a many things that are changed and updated.

C is good - most applications are written in plain c, this should be the
language to choose. Gtk is not complicated, but the documentation is bad.
If you like IDEs, an IDE with context help like Anjuta may be helpful.
Gtk2 porting is nearly finished, only gpe-db, gpe-sketchbook and gpe-conf
need some help here... Maybe look at the wiki pages whats up:
