translations

The l10n support in GPE applications is a bit patchy at the moment. To
try to improve this situation, I plan to start submitting some of these
packages to the GNU Translation Project in order that they can be
translated to new languages.

This would mean giving the TP complete jurisdiction over all the
translation files, i.e. nobody must commit any changes to the *.po files
that haven't been through the TP, even for translations like de and pt
that have been maintained locally until now. Obviously, anybody within
GPE who wants to work on the translations for their language would be
welcome to join the appropriate TP language team.

Anybody have any views on this?
