I was thinking about something like this too and also started with but
got stuck in GTK2 tree widget :( Oh man... why did they make it that
complicated :) ! Anyway I was thinking about a tree style XSettings
config browser/editor since the XSettings entries seem to organised in a
tree-style, correct? So you can then fold and unfold the different
sections and make it a little more nicer to edit/browse.
As a second thought I was wondering how we could handle the different
options, i.e. how we could advertise the possible options of
applications to the user? For example I like the time display in
gpe-calendar in the time-side-bar. I had to ask Philip about the
XSetting for it.
It would be nice to have some sort of a standard to query applications
capable of using XSettings about the settings they understand. Maybe as
commandline option with a help text beeing displayed or some X query?
Any ideas? Comments?
