There are indeed very good reasons that it ought to be a kitten.
As for the logo, I would have thought that the current logo would work
fine in a simplified form as well, but if people want to try other ideas
then that seems fine - we certainly want a monochrome version for
printing etc., since printing e.g. flyers in colour is much much more
expensive than using just black print.
