X is a network transparent window system.

You can run any GPE application across the network to a X server on
your desktop (and there are X servers not only for Linux, but for UNIX,
Mac, and even Windoze).

So you can use the apps on your desktop as well as your handheld.

And courtesy of pb and mallum's wonderful work, you can "teleport" running
GPE apps to such a display, not just start them up from scratch...
