GtkDateCombo

How do you get the GtkDateCombo widget to fit into a table cell the way it
does in gpe-calendar? I've created this:

A window with a non-resizable default size of 240x310.
Within it a notebook.
Within one of the tabs a table with 3 columns and 8 rows in non-homogenous
mode.
Within one of the table's rightmost cells a GtkDateCombo.

When I run this the GtkDateCombo expands its cell until it goes off the edge
of the window obscuring the button that pops up the calendar.

Anyway way for me to get around this and make the GtkDateCombo fit in the
cell?
