Personally I use Multisync http://multisync.sf.net/ to sync my computer
and Mobile Phone (t68). They have a plugin for PocketPC and also one in
development for Opie and they have a SyncML plugin too.

The nice thing about it is that it can be used to back up a device as
well, and also to sync between two plugins, such as an Opie device and a
mobile phone

It is nice and fairly reliable at the moment, and having a plugin for
GPE would be killer.
