While we're at it why not try to be compatible with other major
contact-software. In my world that means evolution.

You would have
NAMES:
prefix (mr, mrs, dr ....)
given_name (first)
additional_name (middle)
family_name (last)
suffix (Sr, Jr, Esq ....)

File as
Job title
Organization

primary email
email2
email3

webpage

PHONE:
business
home
business fax
mobile
assistant
business2
callback
car
company
home2
home fax
isdn
other
other fax
pager
primary
radio
telex
TTY/TDD

(wow.. that's alot of phone-numbers.. let's not take all of them)

ADDRESSES
home, business, other
they each hold:

address
address2
po box
city
zip code
state/province
country

(this is really stupid for lot's of countries. In sweden for example
addresses are not arranged in the same way as it is in the US. But
that's ok anyway I think

Department
Office
Profession
Nickname
Birthday
Notes.

Apart from this you have "manager's name, assistant's name spouse,
anniversary" but I really don't think they are important...

Of course you should also be able to put them in categories.

I'm not saying gpe needs to support EVERYTHING that evolution does but
at least some of it.
