Not everybody is going to be using a compressed filesystem. In
particular, I expect a lot of GPE users are going to end up storing the
relatively large, volatile files like sketches and voice notes in RAM
rather than flash. (One thing we ought to try to do, actually, is come
up with some kind of theory on how to organise home directories so that
they have both a RAM and a flash component.)
I think PNG would probably make a good storage format.
