I think dillo itself needs to be patched to change the behaviour there.
Dillo handles its main window directly, rather than using Gtk for
everything, and I guess it is not setting the right properties.

A quick hack to make it better would be to patch dillo so that it didn't
mark the "open URL" box as a dialog. Then matchbox would make it
fullscreen and you should have more space to stroke in.
