Hi,
Let me just put my 2 cents.
I feel that forking extremely limited developer's resources between Opie and
Gpe is damaging both. At the same time I understand that both projects are
equally important. The only solution I see is to move logic away from
presentation. As my knowledge is very limited I see no better way to do that
than to use ORBit and Bonobo, port wombat, implement all the functionality
at library level and then just use Python, Rubi, C and Perl to create Gpe
and Opie apps. Then it's possible to ping Gnome folks to include a
small-footprint PDA - ready version of ORBit into the main tree, create .ipk
files and concentrate 99% of efforts on just user interface part.
How many calendar and mailbook applications we already have for PDA? How
many of them are good? (Hint: many/zero).
This is just IMHO, and is based on random knowledge of outsider. Don't take
as insult.
