Yep, that's gtkrc stuff.
But we should provide all the fonts that are needed within the
environment. At the moment many programs rely on the existance of M$ TTF
fonts like Verdana or the Monospace font. Those are nice, agreed, but
they are (c) M$ and thus cannot be distributed freely. I have found a
nice free TTF font on the web that can be used for example for mmenu.

IMHO we could use this one to replace Verdana (better replacements
welcome!). I am still looking for a good monospaced font that could be
used e.g. for xkbd.
