The big problem I see with such a wait and see attitude is that we will
NEVER be able to have patches accepted in GTK2 if we wait one year to send
them to the developper (as they will be busy stabilising the release or
starting to work on GTK3 or GTK2.4).

This means that we should at least start testing it right now. And the best
way to test it is to actually use it writing application. Moreover, as
people start exclusively working on GTK2 on the desktop, they will find it
more and more painful to re-learn Gtk1.2 to work on GPE (so you also risk
losing developpers by not switching fast).

Anyway, that's my opinion (not that it matters much, I never did a real GPE
application yet :-) ).
