Leaving aside the question of whether or not putting "GNU" in the name actually
does bring these obligations, this isn't really the same situation. Although
the GPE applications themselves would be GPL'd, anybody would be free to
develop new apps to run alongside them on the same device. You can't do this
with QPE because Trolltech won't allow you to produce commercial applications
for the Qt toolkit. Gtk+ on the other hand is under the LGPL so it can be
freely linked into proprietary code.
