2006/10/04 : the really first success with flash support ! Now, I own the very first Asus A620 PDA fully flashed with Linux !
This release is extremely experimental. TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISKS ! Do not try if you don't have any full backup of your WinCE system !
If you own a backup of your WinCE system (a file called AD620N.nb0), you can safely try this new release. It's realy simple : I provide you a
AD620N.nb0 file that you put on a fresh formated compact flash. Put the CF into your A620, then push record button and the reset button at the same time. You should found the Flash Update program. This release is seen like a WinCE update for the program, so, there was no need to develop a new bootloader
When you want to go back to WinCE, put you AD620N.nb0 WinCE backup file on the CF, and do the same.

2006/09/21 : there was a long time since my last message, but now, as I have defended my PhD, I have some free time ! The first information is that the writing support of the DoC chip via JTAG is done !
-
2006/06/15 : thank to Daniel S., I got an A620 with a broken screen that will help me with the flash programming ! I already patch the
jtag programm in order to read the content of flash. Now, I can experiment writing... project is re-restarted :-)
-
2006/03/08 : Call for donation : as I don't want to trash my A620, and in order to work on flash write access, I'm looking for a A620 or A620BT device, with a broken screen, or something else that let it boot correctly, but make it useless for everyday use. If you own such a device, whose destiny is...uh.... the dustbin, please contact me at vbenony at nordnet dot fr for a donation or very low cost buy ! Thank you !
