WiFi

WiFi is a nickname for the wireless 802.11a/b/g network protocols. Most of the iPAQ's use the 802.11b as far as I know. It allows the devices to connect via a wireless network, just like laptops and desktops can now. In linux this allows seamless updates to the Familiar distribution of linux on iPAQ's via the ipkg command.

Some iPAQ's come with them built in, others have a sleeve w/ either PCMCIA or CF (Compact Flash) and you can buy third party cards to provide the WiFi access.

See [WWW]IpaqHardwareCompatibility/WirelessLAN for compatibility details.
